Skagway

We had a beautiful sunny day in Skagway.  According to locals it was the first sunny day in two weeks.

Our first adventure was riding the White Pass & Yukon Route railroad.

We were in the last car, so we could stand on the back platform and watch the scenery.

The scenery was pretty great any direction you looked.

The tour guide knew exactly where to take the best shots along the route. Looking down the very center of the valley here you can see two white spots in the water. One of those is our cruise ship.
And this is the postcard shot of our train

The train ride only took a few hours so we back in the boat by about 11:00.  Calvin had made arrangements to rent a bike and ride the road to White's Pass. Which required crossing an international border.

That left me with a long afternoon, so I joined Mardie and Alicia on a float trip through the Chilkat River Bald Eagle Preserve. We took a fast ferry to Haines, Alaska then had a perfectly delightful float down the Chilkat River. Although we only saw a couple of eagles.

We had great views on the ferry ride back to Skagway also.
